Wit en Blauw Watergeheugen is een wederkerig, residentiegericht Chinees–Belgisch initiatief dat blauw-wit porselein onderzoekt als een gedeelde, maar voortdurend hergecontextualiseerde visuele taal.

Het project nodigt Chinese schilders en keramisten uit voor residenties in Europese kunstinstellingen, waar zij zich verhouden tot hedendaagse artistieke praktijken en historische casussen zoals Delfts aardewerk—als contexten voor vertaling en herinterpretatie.

Parallel daaraan worden Belgische kunstenaars uitgenodigd in Jingdezhen, China, om te werken binnen een van ’s werelds meest gevestigde keramische productiesystemen, waarbij zij via gezamenlijke creatie rechtstreeks in contact komen met materiële kennis en technieken.

Via langdurige uitwisseling, curatoriële bemiddeling en onderzoeksgebaseerde resultaten ondersteunt het Ghent Project hedendaagse praktijken die opereren binnen, over en voorbij de historische erfenis van blauw-wit porselein.

White and Blue Water Memories is a reciprocal, residency-based Sino–Belgian initiative exploring blue-and-white porcelain as a shared yet continuously recontextualized visual language.

The project invites Chinese painters and ceramic artists to undertake residencies in European art institutions, where they engage with contemporary artistic practices and historical cases such as Delft ceramics—as sites of translation and reinterpretation.

In parallel, Belgian artists are invited to Jingdezhen, China, to work within one of the world’s most established ceramic production systems, engaging directly with its material knowledge and techniques through collaborative creation.

Through sustained exchange, curatorial mediation, and research-based outcomes, the Ghent Project seeks to support contemporary practices that operate within, across, and beyond the historical legacy of blue-and-white porcelain.
